People behind Mal

Anthony Thwaites joined Malmaison over a decade ago, in November 1997, as part of the Manchester Mal’s pre-opening team. But he was always determined to make a career in the hospitality industry.

Anthony loves city life – enjoying eating out, theatre trips and generally soaking up city culture. As a regular visitor to Spain, Anthony is also desperately trying to master the Spanish language. But it’s London which currently has his heart, and of course, his hotel, the Mal.

“We’re a retreat from the hustle and bustle of the West End, but close enough to be a part of it as well. And Clerkenwell is such an interesting part of the city. It’s cool, bohemian and lively, as well as historic.”
